Graduate Program of Study, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV)

Your contribution of any amount, from $5 to $5,000,000, will help support CSIEME program students in the following ways:

Students at graduation

Academic Conference Travel

Conferences provide graduate students opportunities to: 1) present their research, and receive feedback on it from peers, as well as, nationally and internationally acclaimed scholars in their areas if interest, and, 2) participate in national- and international-level academic service with prominent organizations in their fields.

Dissertation or Thesis Research Travel

Group of students

Doctoral students and thesis-track Master's students who choose to pursue national and/or international research trajectories often must travel to collect data for their studies. For example, one CSIEME doctoral student is studying the impact of forced and reverse migration on high school students and in schools on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. Another CSIEME doctoral student is examining the relationship between Christian scripture and Hip Hop in locations significant to both Christianity and Hip Hop across the United States and around the world.

Tuition Gap Bridge

Doctoral graduate

One of UNLV students' greatest strengths is that they are generation university students at every academic level. This means that they arrive on campus with unparalleled will and determination to succeed, and exceptional critical thinking skills. This also means that they often do not have access to the economic resource support from family, extended family, and/or friends that second and third generation college students often do.

While first generation students adeptly take advantage of all available financial aid, scholarships, assistantships, fellowships, and other smaller pools of funds, even considered in sum, these resources still routinely leave these students with small, but critical, shortages that must be bridged every semester for them to move forward in their programs of study.
